Cory S. Huntington, Photographer
I've always been an admirer of photographic art - always having the curiosity and watchful eye for those extraordinary pictures created from ordinary scenes, and beautiful artwork created from everyday objects. I loved seeing that one ray of sunshine or that shadow of darkness that could achieve a whole new visual dimension.
I was intrigued by it all.
With the evolution of digital imaging and my computer knowledge, I discovered the opportunity of combining what I know (computers) with what I like (photography). So I set out with my camera, read through lots of "how to" journals and books, attended seminars and classes from Gary Fagan (a local international award-winning photographer) Art Ketchum (Award winning photographer, lecturer and columnist; considered by many to be one of the finest model photographers in America), Craig Kienast, Kirk Voclain, Dave Junion, and Sandy Puc' (among others), and visited many area Photographic Exhibits and Galleries. Suddenly, I found I couldn't get enough of it.
As my interest grew, I found myself on family trips wandering the country-side in search of that elusive scene to capture. I buried my kids in leaves and took their picture, sent them running & playing with their mother and took their picture, grouped them together and took their picture. I took them along for trips thru the woods and streams. I was loving it (and they were putting up with it!)
Emerging from the woods, we found ourselves roaming through equipment stores, arms laden with lights, props, and backdrops. My family room was slowly transforming into a full-blown studio. Suddenly a whole new world was opening up, a whole new opportunity for creativity, a whole new way to do what I always admired other people doing. I found a whole new way to involve myself, my wife and my kids in a learning, fun, ever-changing, and ever-challenging adventure.
As I began to branch out and photograph friends and family, I soon found out just how rewarding it is to bring out the quiet coy smile hidden in that two year old who never sits still, or the beauty in the shy, self-conscious teenager, that they never saw but was there all along.
My photography business has joined my other hobbies of creating web pages (Chameleon Web Design), and inter-mixing good shots with missed putts on local golf courses. I occassionally find time to take my camera out to enjoy local parks, zoos, water sports, bow-hunting, and grass-cutting. (some things it enjoys more than others).
